If India is set to become a world power, then it doesn’t need charity. It needs to be treated as an equal in the international arena. So therefore no one should be upset if an annual aid contribution gets cut. The point of this blog post is that people are unnecessarily outraged about something that is more or less a benign and pragmatic change in policy. (See also comments below in response to Brahmin.)

I agree with you. The rioting is just unnecessary and they all have options.

I am a final cut pro user and I have been so since film school; but, the thing is I run a small business and do I do all my editing on my Mac using Final Cut. Yea in the industry compatibility is important but there is also a new industry emerging and editors who work as I do. I mean not all of us will make it to Hollywood and neither do we all want to; so Final Cut Pro X may work for us. I for one am willing to give it a try.

I also think Final Cut Pro X will even the playing field a lot more by allowing John Doe to produce better work, which will also change the industry. Shorter formats are becoming increasingly popular because of the web and cell phones. That’s a lucrative market that many smaller companies are tapping into. So clearly the market is changing.

I think as media professionals our best bet is to use the tools that will allow us to do our work. If it means abandoning Final Cut for another platform so be it. But, we still have to be mindful of and flexible enough to adapt to the emerging changes to our industry so that when they become the standard we don’t get left behind.
