I want a new toy!
I promised my son a Mac laptop if he got in to college. He did. So there’s a £1000 to find in the next month. Not that I mind that. Not at all. He did his bit, so now I will do as I promised. He’s worth every penny.
But damn, it’s been a long time since I bought myself a new toy. You know, something special, out of the ordinary. Something a little ostentatious. Sigh.
Sadly, having committed myself to this f%^&%ing project I’ve eaten through any discretionary money I had, so justifying an impromptu present to myself is out of the window. Arse.
I keep drooling over several options.
- A fully loaded Mac Pro desktop. Mmmmm. So that would be around £8.5k and out of the question at the moment. Besides I have a pretty kick-ass setup at the moment. This is truly a luxury dribble-fest.
- A gate with remote entry system. Around £2k
- A Live scribe pen. £200 Oooh, this one is so tempting. Such a frickin’ cool toy.
- A new car. £8k. Again, nice but the old car I drive is showing no signs of dying so justifying buying a new one is pretty tricky.
So, much as the nice feeling of buying a new toy would buck me up for a while, for now I’ll settle for the joy of giving.
